Homeward Bound
Hey,
Back home after 2 exhausting days in London.
We started out with a show at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, which was pretty good, even though, I guess, it didn’t feel like playing the UK as the audience was mostly French, Japanese and Chinese…I spotted a few Brits though!
As it’s often the case in London, we came back from a rather awful mexican dinner to find that the support act had already packed up their stuff and left a clean stage! We performed a classic set (opening with One Parachute and finishing with Changes), broke some strings, improvised new moves when playing the wurlitzer, and Pedro wore the panda head -which he had kept in the closet for 2 years now- for the finale. People seemed very positive about the gig.
Afterwards we stayed a bit a the bar, drove back to a shitty hotel up North, stopped on our way to eat another rather awful kebab (!) and got some sleep.
Med & I with our high qualifications as “DJ’s en chef” won the opportunity to spend another day in London. Which was spent supporting the British economy with intensive shopping. Funnily enough, some Japanese girls recognized us while buying dvd’s & books at Fop. Then we headed to the Reebok Lounge to attend the set of Zombie Zombie and a few songs later we took control of the desks. Shuggie Otis, Steve Miller Band, Black Devil Disco Club and an unreleased remix of Unpredictable by German band Wagner Love were amongst the artists we played.
Then we had more drinks (liquid dinner) and we left early in the morning to get back to Paris.
What’s coming up next?
Starting on Monday 11th, Pedro and I will produce the sessions for what will become Fugu’s 3rd album. Julien B (our keyboard, perc, funny guy will play the drums). It will take 2 weeks of tracking. We’re all pretty excited about the songs.
After covering/remixing Unicorn’s Wao, we’ve got more remixes in the works. Speaking of which, we just got an amazing remix of Unpredictable by French band Pony Taylor ( a cross between ELO & SFA), all this should be released on an EP for this summer.
Bis Gleich,
X
