Tour Report (June 09)
Back from our Normandie & Britain “tour”…and ready to start again!
Let me remind you what happened:
First we did that DJ set in Rouen, a selection of “relaxed” tracks as we were asked not to turn the Cathedral square into a discotheque. Sometimes I wish we were more punk rock kind of guys (though it can happen), just to see what would have happened (the cops coming, everybody going apeshit etc…actually, one neighbour came and complained, he couldn’t hear his tv set…that was a start).
So we stuck to the brief and selected some truly amazing songs by (Pentangle, Kevin Ayers, David Axelrod, JacKie Mittoo…). I guess you can still download it from the archive section.

Then Med & I took the train to Caen for the ww2w party at El Camino. I hadn’t done concerts like that since I became a “pro”, erm, “musician” (lots of “…” here). Everybody was so new to the world of organizing a concert, that several times, I felt like a seasoned tatooed beer bellied tour manager/roadie etc. After few technical details were arranged (ah oui? we need monitors & DI’s…), the party could begin! We enjoyed watching Wheel & Cascadeur. Then I joined Mehdi Fugu for a few songs, I started noticing that people in the audience were getting drunk fast, and by the time we reached the stage everybody’s was shit faced, singing our songs louder than us, and often not in the same key. Then, Roubignole (the MC and my bro’) joined us on stage, unplugged my guitar (and broke a cable) during Heartbeat…the only choice I had was to call for a stage invasion for our last song (Be My Baby) that’s what everybody did, banging on anything that looked more or less like percussion. It ended like a remake of La Fete de la musique when it’s very late…

The party went on, elsewhere, for once I was reasonable and went home with Alex from Cascadeur while the others played records et al at Wheel’s HQ.
The next morning we were all off to Paris, Med & I continued our journey to London. For the Queens Of Sounds Party. The show turned out very well. Cool clothes, cool line up, cool DJ, cool party. Once again the crowd was very cosmopolitan (mix of Japanese, French and a few Brits) and we enjoyed the night pretty much.

Then, we summed up our trip with a performance at Pure Groove records. 15 minutes before the show, noone was in the shop…we expected a very embarassing Spinal Tap moment and then the room filled up very quickly, we performed a few songs and we were gone.
See you very shortly back in Caen
thanks to all!
