Arrrgentina!
Hola,
Tahiti 80 speaking from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
WE’re having a good time down there, enjoying the sight of green leaves on trees while back home they’re all red-ish and lying on the pavement. It’s Spring again, even though we know it will only last 10 days for us.
Our show at Personal Fest was really cool. We basically performed on the day we arrived, line-checking as we literally got out of the plane (life’s hard, indeed!) but we still managed to feel good and rock out. I enjoyed some of Pedro’s new moves, like he was pretending to shoot something in the air as I sang the words “Yellow Butterfly”. Instead of coloured insects we watched a bunch of planes landing on the nearby airport as we were playing along. I can only wonder what the passengers saw from their windows. an Ant farm attending a rock concert?!
We played a selection of songs from every album, dunno if everyone was all familiar with them, but it worked out pretty good.
After the show, we attended Chic’s concert, which was great: a wonderful excuse to hear all the songs Nile Rodgers wrote or produced in his career. I even enjoyed a rendition of Modjo’s Lady. and god knows how I hate that song.
We left before the Pet Shop Boys. I’ve never been a huge fan of them, shame on me, I always felt they wrote some good songs but never really liked the production on their albums.
Can’t really remember what we did afterwards, as we all suffered from jet lag…
I guess we had a few drinks and went safely back to the hotel.
I guess for French people, Buenos Aires is really special: it has architectural bits of Paris here and there, a strong Spanish & Italian vibe with a twist of American modernism. But most of all, I guess we feel at home here cause all we have to do is just looking at the cars going around town: they’re all vintage European, and mostly French automobiles. They bring back fond memories of our childhood, when we were guessing what was the brand or model of cars as we drove along with our parents on our way to vacation etc. Honestly, I could still play that game, even today.
Anyway….
yesterday, we went back to the festival, saw the wonderful world of Tom Zé, even though I didn’t get much of his speeches between songs, it was truly one of the most inspiring shows I’ve seen in years. I loved the bit when he took of his shoes and started to make love (?) to them! Crazy!
Then we stayed for Depeche Mode, who disappointed me a bit. I didn’t like the arrangements, the sound etc. My fav moment was when Martin Gore sang a few songs. Amazing voice, over complicated melodies yet touching.
The rest is history, we left, had “rare ‘bife de chorizo’ “, malbec, quilmes, went to a party, almost got in a fight in the restroom queue. Sorry I gotta go, we’re shooting a video for Come Around later today!
bye now,
Besos
Rravierrr.!
