Oh oh oh oh, oh yeah oh yeah ay ay
3 years agoHey…
(writing this post in the Shinkansen.)
Everybody’s asleep except for Skippy and me, all the sleepers are wearing uniqlo socks, that’s what I call a tribe spirit.
Flash back:
we played in Nagoya 2 days ago, that was a pretty cool show, packed, with a very friendly audience. No after-show party, we went out for dinner (without Smoky ,still recovering from his cold, who ate at Yoshinoya) at a Chinese/Japanese place which was OK. Memorable moment :Spider crying after eating a vicious spice.
I think I might be able to win the Spice Contest 2008 which will take place shortly in Seoul (last time, it was me who broke into tears after one too many Korean green chili). We got back to the hotel safely, and slept OK.
Yesterday, we were in Osaka, and as always Osaka proved it was -almost- a latin city. Warm crowd, cheering, clapping, screaming etc…I think it has to do with the venue itself (club quattro) which is very well designed: you feel a real intimacy with the spectators. The show was really cool, we laughed a lot, wore Xmas hats etc…
Then we had dinner, discussed the pros & cons of touring, environmental issues (Do we really need ice cubes in lavatories?), economics (the rat race, profit, capitalism etc…). Talking passionately, like stupid French guys do…it got pretty intense…too much, unfortunately…but 5 minutes later, everything was forgotten and we moved to a club called Vano. That’s where it all went crazy…
I started with an indie-kinda-mix (Sloan’s Don’t You Believe A word, Junior Senior’s You’re A Girl are absolutely mind blowing classics), then DJ Spanky took over, even playing a song by Johnny “Optic 2000” Halliday, you gotta have balls to do that!
After Spanky’s crazy set, Stomy got his laptop out and played another cool 127 BPM selection. (Stomy & Spanky almost had an argument as Spanky kept triggering “Hello Everybody, This is Ronald and Donald” from Couac Couac see Baron episode…sporting my Michel Platini-circa-1984 jersey and acting just like a captain of a football team, I calmed them down)
We all chatted with the fans, , autographing various objects such as flyers, Cd’s, Ipod’s, phones, shirts… taking pics (1,023 at least), sometimes even giving free hugs.
Then, Skippy, Spanky & me headed back to the hotel, stopping at an Am/Pm store to get some triangle sandwiches, before going to bed.
This morning, from the look on Snake’s, Spider’s, Stomy’s & Smoky’s messed up faces, it seems like the rest of the night had been a lot of fun.
I’ve just seen the Fuji Mt from the train window, that was amazing!
Gotta go, we have a soundcheck to do for the Levi’s instore performance tonight.
bye now,
X
