No Airplanes Tour- Winter 09
3 years agoHi there,
At last we’re in Germany! Last night’s show was good. Sparse but good crowd.
Each tour is different, and let me tell you that there’s definitely a Spinal Tap vibe to the first leg of the 2009 tour.
The first of these moments was in Strasbourg for the intro of Parachute. You know how this goes, we go straight to our instrumentsc-we don’t say hello,we keep that for later- and 3,4 we all play at once. It works usually fine.
The problem was that my guitar was:
a) not connected to the my fx pedals
b) my fx pedals were not connected to the amp
I felt like Derek Smalls trying to get out of his shell. it was quite a long moment of loneliness. When it happens to you, it gives you a different perspective on R’n’R…it’s all about the fun, right?
Second ST moment: Yesterday, we loaded “Schorndorf” on the GPS, the problem is that there are at least 2 towns named like that in Germany, and of course, we picked up the wrong one, we entered a small village, one street really, and I asked a lady in my broken German, where was The Manufaktur and after a few minutes of mutual incomprehension, she said it’s “3 hours from here, it’s nach Stuttgart!”. The good thing is that the “Frau” in question had overestimated the trip as it only took us another hour to get there, watching Marvin Gaye’s Live at Montreux DVD.
(At least, it’s a good story to tell, could it be the basis of a song? we’ll see)
There’s snow everywhere, hopefully we’ll make it-in time- to Munich!
Love!
