Hey…

here’s where we stopped last time…

No After show in Berlin as we needed to drive back to the West, nach Köln precisely. The show was cool and laid back, even intimate as it was Monday night (and not so many people showed up). DJ Spanky spinned some records while packing up the merch, we drank a few shots from local schnaps, talked to a guy called Norbert who had seen The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix et al back in the day. One day, he’ll say that he saw Tahiti 80…erm. I guess the fun part was sleeping at a youth hostel, especially as we were supposed to get proper rooms within the hotel, instead of that we got the backpacker’s treatment (the door man was too stoned or exhausted to give us the rooms we had paid for). Ouch, It felt like being 19 again, studying in Cologne, making our bed and sharing commodities with other guests. Rock’n’Roll.
No sightseeing in Cologne, I have to say we had no time for that in any other city, and after a few hours drive and maybe “Cable guy” on the van, we arrived in Münster. We had a great time there, the food was all vegetarian (dinners were great on this tour) and the show was a lot of fun. Julien thought it was his last show as he had, by mistake, swallowed a small chunk of glass while drinking from a bottle of water. A few more shots of schnapps with the cool boyz and gurl from the band Wheels on Fire at a bar called Plan B. I didn’t go to the one called Butt’s though.
And then finally, it was Hamburg, my fav’ city in Germany, where we performed at the Molotow (and slept at Molotow’s office/flat). The club really has a London-ish vibe (small, cave, stairs, loud), but it was great, one of our best shows from this tour.
Pedro fine tuned his stage presentation with a Queen’s bass riff…then we had some schnapps at a bar where Spanky played a cool selection of tracks and then we went to Püdel where the band split…in many directions. I stayed there with friends from Marina records, I think we actually break-danced (I remember hearing the words “DO IT!” being screamed at me) on a few old skool hip-hop grooves. Then, taxi, salami, bröt, sleep, shopping, snow, van, duisburg and then  I woke up and we were in France.
First time we ever stopped in Calais, we usually take either the tunnel or the boat to England from there. The show was Ok in a rather empty venue (with more chairs than actual people). The fun part was playing football with young kids (Jean Claude, Jean Luc & Logan…) from the nearby projects. Unfortunately, nobody was shooting the scene when did a fucking “vol plané” and I could have finished either at the hospital or on the most viewed clips on Youtube…too bad. The other cool part was when we went bowling with Normandy band Da Brasilians. It was by far the highlight of that night. Pedro won.
Then Pont Saint Maxence, cool show with lots of young fans. We drove back to Paris & Rouen after the show. We were having a great time, listening to music reminiscing all our German advendtures and all of a sudden we were at Porte (David) de La Chapelle. And back home for a few days….

Tomorrow, Nantes & Lorient reports…love!
